HILL WALKING
To our fellow hill walking enthusiasts we at the Breesy Centre would like to extend a warm “Céad Míle fáilte”, an invitation, to join us on one of our many hill walking breaks here in Cashelard, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal.
In pursuing our ongoing commitment to producing high quality, eco-friendly residentials we are pleased to announce our new “Hill Walking” package.
This “special offer” programme has been designed to give you a wonderful opportunity to see the beauty of South Donegal, giving you a real feel for the culture, history and folklore of our region.

Friday
Arrival, Check-in and welcome drink.
Saturday
Following breakfast (choice of full Irish or continental), with one of our qualified guides you will precede to your chosen walk from one of the following options:

The Breesy Hill Walk (4 hours)
The Cashelard area is well suited to all visitors who enjoy the great outdoors. Walkers can enjoy the quiet lanes, bog tracks and hillsides. Breesy Hill (235m) dominates our skyline and from its summit, views of Donegal, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Leitrim and Sligo can be enjoyed.
Slieve League (4-5 hours)
Walk to the top of Slieve League, Europe’s highest sea cliffs. An experience not to be missed. Breathtaking coastal scenery, views stretching out over the Atlantic Ocean and of the dramatic Donegal, Sligo and Mayo landscape, not to mention the magnificent cliffs themselves.
Take the pilgrim path portraying marvellous views of the changing coastline. Continue on past the narrow 250m ‘One Man’s Pass’ which overlooks two lakes, believed to have been formed by the Ice Age. See the Atlantic Ocean as you have never seen it before.

Ben Bulben
Capture the unique spirit of the North West of Ireland and of ‘Yeats Country’ by visiting the famous Ben Bulben in Co. Sligo.
Marvel in its formidable and imposing sight and immerse yourself in the beauty of its history and mythology. The walk itself can represent a significant physical challenge, but the end result is breathtaking with magnificent views all around Sligo Bay, the Atlantic Ocean and Yeats Country.

The Cashelard Trail
A lovely circular walk starting and finishing in Cashelard. The route follows country lanes and tracks, passing en-route Breesy Hill, the bog of Croaghbreesy and Lough Unshin. Stunning Views of the surrounding mountains, the Atlantic Ocean and the Lakeland’s can be enjoyed at every turn. Medium ascent.
Return for your evening meal followed by evening entertainment courtesy of our local rural pub – the Travellers Rest.
Sunday
Your weekend continues with breakfast followed by your Morning Moderate Walk.
Creevy Coastal Walk
Walk along the edge of the Erne Estuary with views of Ben Bulben, Donegal Bay, the Bluestack Mountains and Wardtown Castle.
Pause for a coffee (or something stronger) at the Creevy Pier Hotel, before passing the ruins of the home of Michael O’Cleary, the learned Franciscan Lay Brother who was chief of the Four Masters and oversaw the compilations of the Annals of the Four Masters.
When your walk concludes you will return to the Centre for a Traditional Sunday Lunch before you depart.
